Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to commonly asked questions about our pet care services.

Is ReTreat a solo sitter or an agency?

ReTreat is a fully licensed LLC and a professional agency. Rather than assigning you one person, we build you a small, dedicated team of 2–4 vetted care providers who all know your pets, your home, and your routines. That means seamless coverage whether it's a Tuesday walk or a two-week trip — no scrambling, no gaps, no strangers showing up unannounced. The agency was founded by Kyra Neilly, who brings 13+ years of hands-on animal care experience to every hire, every policy, and every standard we hold our team to.

How do I know your team members can be trusted in my home?

Every ReTreat team member passes a national-level criminal background check before their first visit. We are fully insured, bonded, and covered by workers' compensation. Before any service begins, we require a complimentary in-person Meet & Greet so you can meet your care providers face to face — because handing someone your house key should never feel like a leap of faith.

What makes ReTreat different from Rover or a solo sitter I find online?

Three things: accountability, consistency, and structure. On Rover, you're hiring an individual with no agency behind them. With ReTreat, you have a W-2 employer who trains, manages, and stands behind every team member. If your sitter is ever unavailable, we have coverage — you are never left without care. We also carry proper business insurance and follow PSI's Global Standards for the pet care industry.

Are your sitters certified in Pet First Aid / CPR?

Yes. Every ReTreat team member is certified in Pet First Aid & CPR, with certification completed within their first 90 days and sponsored by the company. We also maintain a detailed digital profile for every pet — including medical history, allergies, medications, and your veterinarian's contact information — so we can act quickly and correctly if anything comes up.

Do you care for pets other than dogs?

Absolutely. We provide in-home care for dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, and other companion animals. If you have a multi-species household — say, two dogs, a cat, and some backyard chickens — you can book one visit that covers everyone. No need to coordinate multiple providers.

What does a typical visit look like, and will I get updates?

After every single visit, you receive a detailed report through our client platform, Time To Pet — including feeding and potty notes, observations about your pet's mood and behavior, and a photo gallery from the visit. You'll never be left wondering. Whether you're at work down the street or on a flight to another country, you'll know your pet is okay.

How do I get started?

The first step is a free Meet & Greet — an in-person visit where you'll meet your care provider, walk them through your pet's routine, and ask any questions you have. There's no pressure and no commitment required. You can request one through the Get in Touch page or by calling us directly at (831) 222-0197.
